چکیده

Active Appearance Models (AAMs) are a well studied 2D deformable model. One recently proposed extension of AAMs to multiple images is the CoupledView AAM. Coupled-View AAMs model the 2D shape and appearance of a face in two or more views simultaneously. The major limitation of CoupledView AAMs, however, is that they are specific to a particular set of cameras, both in geometry and the photometric responses. In this paper, we describe how a single AAM can be fit to multiple images, captured simultaneously by cameras with arbitrary geometry and response functions. Our algorithm retains the major benefits of Coupled-View AAMs: the integration of information from multiple images into a single model, and improved fitting robustness.

Improved Face Model Fitting on Video Sequences

Active Appearance Models (AAMs) represent the shape and appearance of an object via two low-dimensional subspaces, one for shape and one for appearance. AAMs for facial images are currently receiving considerable attention from the computer vision community. However, most existing work focuses on fitting AAMs to a single image. For many applications, effectively fitting an AAM to video sequence...

Resolution-Aware Fitting of Active Appearance Models to Low Resolution Images

Active Appearance Models (AAM) are compact representations of the shape and appearance of objects. Fitting AAMs to images is a difficult, non-linear optimization task. Traditional approaches minimize the L2 norm error between the model instance and the input image warped onto the model coordinate frame. While this works well for high resolution data, the fitting accuracy degrades quickly at low...

Generative face alignment through 2.5D active appearance models

This work addresses the matching of a 3D deformable face model to 2D images through a 2.5D Active Appearance Models (AAM). We propose a 2.5D AAM that combines a 3D metric Point Distribution Model (PDM) and a 2D appearance model whose control points are defined by a full perspective projection of the PDM. The advantage is that, assuming a calibrated camera, 3D metric shapes can be retrieved from...

Segmented AAMs Improve Person-Indepedent Face Fitting

An Active Appearance Model (AAM) is a variable shape and appearance model built from annotated training images. It has been largely used to synthesize or fit face images. Person-independent face AAM fitting is a challenging open issue. For standard AAMs, fitting a face image for an individual which is not in the training set is often limited in accuracy, thereby restricting the range of applica...
